The Acute Medical Rehabilitation Program specializes in helping individuals regain a maximum level of mobility and independence following a disabling illness or injury, including stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders, cardiac disease, chronic pulmonary disease, arthritis, orthopedics and amputation.
CARF ACCREDITATION
Kaleida Health has been awarded a CARF three-year accreditation for its inpatient rehabilitation programs at Buffalo General Hospital and DeGraff Memorial Hospital, the highest distinction of excellence available in the field of rehabilitation. In fact, they are among the region and nation’s top performers for patient improvement in functional independence following a stroke (i.e. walking, getting into and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, speech and swallowing).
Kaleida Health is the only organization in Erie and Niagara Counties of Western New York to receive this distinction for rehab.
Accreditation comes after a rigorous review peer process where Buffalo General Hospital and DeGraff Memorial Hospital demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now know as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focuses standards to help organization measure and improve the quality of their programs.

We recognize that other rehabilitation programs may operate closer to your home; however, we are confident that there are few that can compare to the quality, expertise and compassion found on our rehabilitation units at Buffalo General Hospital and DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

Additional Information
DeGraff Memorial Hospital and Buffalo General Hospital provide inpatient, hospital-based rehabilitation as well as outpatient services. Both sites employ specialized staff in musculoskeletal and neurological intervention. The DeGraff site also offers driver evaluation and training for people who need assistance returning to the road. Both sites enjoy very high patient satisfaction. |
